Family Shelter

Giving Grace is the only emergency family shelter in Denton County serving families experiencing homelessness outside of the domestic violence system, providing safe shelter, stability, and compassionate support for parents and children in crisis. Our mission is to offer not only a place to stay, but a pathway toward hope, healing, and long-term transformation for families working to rebuild their lives.

Bedtime Rescue Program

Families may stay in the Bedtime Rescue Program for up to 14 days while we provide immediate safety, stability, and compassionate crisis intervention during one of the most vulnerable moments of their lives. For many families, this program is the first opportunity in weeks—or even months—to sleep in a safe bed, lock a door at night, and experience peace without fear for themselves or their children.

During their stay, families complete intake and stabilization services, including HMIS enrollment, safety and compliance reviews, and preparation for long-term Life Skills development. Our team works intentionally to protect children's well-being by helping families maintain school enrollment and minimize educational disruption during the crisis. While parents begin rebuilding stability, children are given the opportunity to remain connected to routines, learning, and a sense of normalcy.

Throughout the 14-day process, staff assesses each family’s readiness for advancement into 90-Day Shelter Program, where they can continue moving toward housing stability, personal growth, and long-term self-sufficiency.

90-Day Shelter Program

Our 90-Day Shelter Program does more than provide temporary housing—it creates a pathway from crisis to stability for families experiencing homelessness. In a safe and supportive environment, parents and children are given the opportunity to rest, heal, and rebuild their lives while receiving intensive case management, Life Skills training, workforce development, and housing support.

Throughout the program, families work toward long-term independence by strengthening financial stability, securing employment, accessing healthcare and community resources, and preparing for permanent housing. We also work closely with families to ensure children remain connected to school, tutoring, transportation, and supportive services so their education and future are not interrupted by homelessness.

By the end of the program, families leave with more than shelter—they leave with a plan, practical tools, renewed confidence, and hope for a stable future. Families who need continued support may also transition into our Transformational Housing Program, where they can continue to receive guidance, stability, and supportive services for up to 2 additional years as they work toward lasting self-sufficiency.
