Gifts of Stocks and Securities

Did you know that giving stock and other appreciated securities can generate a charitable deduction and tax savings? Your gift will make an impact on the lives of many overcoming homelessness.

Giving stock or other appreciated securities can generate a charitable deduction and tax savings.

Donors receive a charitable deduction for the fair market value of securities gifted to Giving Grace if they owned them for more than one year, regardless of what they originally paid. The donor will pay no capital gains tax on the gain in the securities gifted. Always consult your tax advisor for application of these laws to your personal tax situation.

Gifts of Stock or Mutual Fund Shares

Most securities transfers are handled electronically, directly from your brokerage account to ours. If you need to gift securities in certificate form or have other questions, please contact accounting@givinggrace.org.

Because we normally don’t receive any donor information from our broker regarding the source of these gifts, please:

Send a separate letter or email with your name and contact information (for tax receipt purposes), as well as the exact number of shares and the name of the company whose securities you have gifted to:

We will issue a receipt acknowledging your gift after we receive your gift and a letter or email.  If you would like to designate your gift to Love First, please indicate so in your letter or email.
