Through monetary and other tangible gifts, the Grace foundation offers kindness, dignity and hope to local families and individuals struggling due to life-altering medical issues.
The Grace Foundation has always been a labor of love- from our very first fundraiser hosted so many years ago to the smiles we bring to countless faces today through gifts that help make life a little easier, calmer, warmer and kinder.
Our efforts started in memory of Kathleen Chenoweth Corby, co-owner of the former City Garden in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, who was lost to cancer in 1998. Six months after Kathy's death, the first Kathy's Garden Party, An Art Hat Show, was held to celebrate her life. Organized by a small creative group of Kathy's family and friends, the show raised $15,000 to benefit the Froedtert Clinical Caner Research Center. In 2000, Beyond the Glass Slipper raised $25,000 for Froedtert. In 2001, Shes's Got a Brand New Bag, raised almost $30,000 for Gilda's Club of Southeastern Wisconsin. All of these events involved artists creating fabulous works to fit a selected theme to be auctioned off to the highest bidder.
In 2002, the Grace Foundation was created to serve as the recipient of future fundraising efforts held in Kathy's memory. Since then, Kathy's Garden Parties have grown both in attendance and dollars raised, becoming one of Milwaukee's most exciting and anticipated charitable events. All of the money we raise has been used to support key efforts to make life a little better for local families and individuals coping with serious medical issues.
Over the years, we've been fortunate to cross paths with many people and organizations who have generously shared their resources to allow us to plan and host events that delight everyone who attends, while raising significant dollars. All Grace Foundation board members and Kathy's Garden Party committee members donate their time and talents. One-hundred percent of contributions and proceeds from our events are used to support our mission.
